10 Students received school uniforms

Distribution of complete sets of school uniforms

With school opening just around the corner, and with the yearly tussle of tuition fees and school requirements… Evangel Iloilo once more was at the helm in providing assistance to needy and deserving students under its yearly EDU-AIDS program. Since 2006, Pas. Tohnee & Pas. Lily Lim, recognizing the financial inability of most poor families to send their children to school, established the EDU-AIDS program.

Under this program potential students are financially assisted in meeting their yearly tuition fees, as well as weekly allowances. Many among its recipients have thus benefited from this timely assistance, some of whom have made it to the university, while others are presently young professionals in their own right.

Following last year’s successful EDU drive, Pas. Lily came up with another scheme of students assistance for this year. And that is the distribution of complete sets of uniform, socks… including shoes, and individually custom made to conform to the different types of school uniforms.

For this year, 10 students were privileged enough to receive this initial and welcome assistance. In 2008, the distribution of EDU-PACKS was first conducted in Calaparan, Iloilo City. Comprising the EDU-PACKS were immediate school supplies needed for the school opening; examples of which were, intermediate pad, notebooks, assortments of pen and pencils, crayons, erasers and pencil cases.

Noting the large turnout of students for this back-to-school drive for indigent students. Pas. Tohnee & Pas. Lily, introduced the same program to the Hearts on Fire and Radical Zone, and in part assisting their very own homegrown students. A plus factor was the JANSPORT bags that came in hip and colorful designs. This year alone, 77 of those packs were given away, as well as 86 sets of Diesel bags.
