Believe: Anything Is Possible
My warmest greetings to my brothers and sisters in Christ!
First I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to Pastor Tohnee and Pastor Lily and to the whole congregation for giving me this rare opportunity to humbly share my testimony of God’s goodness.
It gives me an unspeakable joy to testify of God’s goodness in my life.
I joined Evangel Family Church in June 2007 when Yvonne Rose Juanco invited me to attend church service. During that time, I was looking for a good church that will feed me with the word of God. The first encounter with this church was a new experience to me but I was very pleased because I was warmly welcomed by everyone with a happy smile. My attendance continued until I became I regular church member. It was on May 23, 2009 when I was baptized in this church.
The first time I took the Bar Examination was in September 2008 but I failed. I was about to give up that time. If I don’t take the Bar Exam again I might forget about it forever. I might lose my interest in legal profession and take another direction in life. But my former officemate at the Department of Foreign Affairs who is now assigned at the Philippine Embassy in Romania contacted me. She extended her support to lend me $1,000 for my review and stay in Manila for one month. So I enrolled here in Iloilo City for my review. Actually, I was already two weeks late for the review but the review center considered my case because financial reasons.
The Bible in Luke 11:9-10 tells us
And I tell you, keep on asking and you will be given what you ask for. Keep on looking and you will find. Keep on knocking and the door will be opened. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And the door is opened to everyone who knocks.”
This verse in the Bible became my guiding principle especially when I failed the first time I took the Bar Examination in 2008. I prayed everyday the moment I wake up in the morning and before I sleep in the evening. And everyday without fail, I read the Bible through the church’s Bible Reading Guide. I always dedicate my prayer for my Bar examination. I said,
Lord, I ask for your divine intervention during my review and during the Bar Examination. Send me your Holy Spirit and wisdom so that I will be able to memorize the lessons, retain it in my mind and recall it during the day of the examination.
When Pastor Tohnee and Pastor Lily preached about claiming our inheritance, I made it also as part of my prayer. I said,
God I claim in the name of Jesus your promise that I claim my inheritance from you. I claim the blessings that has been taken by the devil.
Another church preaching that convicted my heart was about fasting. When I was already in Manila Yvonne texted me to fast. I said I could only fast during breakfast. So, I started to fast during breakfast from September 1, 2009 until the day the Bar Examination result was released. On the day the Bar result was released, I had a full fast from breakfast to dinner.
During my six months of waiting for the results, I became active in church activities. I joined the HOF as narrator, scriptwriter and sometimes director. I patiently waited to other church members who would come late during practice. I thank God that during the waiting period, I made my self useful to the church as part of my ministry.
These are just some of the bible and church teachings that I incorporated as part of my daily prayer and life.
My brothers and sisters in Christ, God is indeed a good God. We will receive his promises in the bible if we only BELIEVE in Him. The Bible in Mark 9:23 says, “Anything is possible if a person believes.” We all need to have faith and hold on to Him and to His words in the Bible and claim His blessings.
Now that I have received what I asked for in prayer, I said,
Lord, now that I am a lawyer, I will do things to glorify your name.
This is the same message I gave when I was interviewed live by Bombo Radio on the night the result was released. I also made a covenant with God that I will make my life a living testimony of His greatness. I will continue to bless this church because this church has blessed me so much.
With this, I would like to graciously thank Pastor Tohnee and Pastor Lily for accepting me as part of the evangel family and for the continued prayer during the review and during the bar month in September 2009. Thank you also to my Region C family especially to Pastor Ephraim and Pastor Anelene for your prayers during the Synchronized Home Prayer, for the encouragement, for the understanding and for believing in my at all times. You are all my inspirations in this endeavor. To all of you thank you very much. You are all part of this blessing and I offer this to all of you.
Good morning and God bless us all.
